About Us

‘Lively Eaters’ was developed to cater for the need of a quality, timely and thorough diagnostic assessment and therapy service for babies and children with feeding and eating difficulties, and their families.  Limited services for feeding assistance are available Australia wide and waiting lists can be long or therapy programs not tailored to meet the needs of each individual child and their family.

Lindy Parfrey – Paediatric Dietitian

Lindy is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with experience working in children’s hospitals in both Australia and the United Kingdom. Lindy has worked with infants, children and adolescents with a wide range of nutritional needs including enteral tube feeding, fussy eating, slow growth, food allergy and intolerance, oncology, metabolic illness and more.Lindy has been involved in developing published Breastfeeding, Child and Maternal Nutrition Guidelines and has written food and nutrition policy for Childcare Centres and Children’s Centres.

Lindy is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and a member of the Dietetics Association of Australia which demonstrates her passion to continuous professional development and high professional standards.

With four young children of her own, Lindy has a good understanding of the challenges of parenthood and is passionate about helping families enjoy and normalise food and feeding.

Jessica Smith – Paediatric Occupational Therapist

Jess is a passionate Occupational Therapist with over 7 years experience working with children and families. She has supported children across many settings, including home, kindergarten, school and clinic. Jess has recently returned to Adelaide after living and working in Melbourne and London for several years. Here she worked with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities and developmental delays.

Jess has a special interest in working with children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and sensory processing difficulties and has undertaken additional training in these areas.  She is passionate about supporting families to enjoy mealtimes together and have positive experiences with food and eating.

Erin Warnes – Paediatric Occupational Therapist

Erin has over 10 years experience as an Occupational Therapist working in a range of community settings. She has worked in multi-disciplinary teams to maximise the functioning of children experiencing developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder and intellectual and physical disabilities. Having three young children herself, one with challenges related to feeding, Erin’s passion in working with children and families experiencing feeding challenges ignited. Erin has undertaken a range of ongoing training related to sensory processing and draws upon this knowledge and experience to assist children to regulate for eating and to build on foods with preferred sensory properties. Erin has undertaken further study and courses related to feeding and relationship based approaches. She understands the importance of relationship in maximising feeding outcomes and works with children and families to, most importantly, be in the moment together.

Roanna Whiting – Paediatric Speech Pathologist

Roanna is a Speech Pathologist who is passionate about paediatric feeding and working with young children and their families. Roanna has experience in both private practice and public health settings, and has worked with children with significant sensory feeding and swallowing difficulties. Roanna has also worked with a variety of fussy feeders in group settings across Adelaide.  She strives to maintain her knowledge in the area through regular professional development.  Her enthusiasm and ability to build a great rapport with children and families ensures she provides family centred therapy based around meeting the needs of both the child and their family.
